The newly formed Nebraska Dachshund Rescue group based in Omaha is amazing! They are doing great things for our sausage shaped furry friends. Many of the people involved are former adopters of HUA wieners. They have worked with Hearts United to take in some of our recent mill rescue Dachshunds. There are more rescues planned, many many more that need out of the puppy mills, but they need foster homes for the dogs in order to be able to take more. If you are interested in fostering you must be located in the central Mid-west area, fill out an application, speak with one of their coordinators and have a home visit. The contact is Julie Siebler. Her e-mail is Julie Siebler jcsiebler@aol.com. HUA currently has over 30 Dachshunds available for adoption and Nebraska Dachshund Rescue has almost the same number. That's a wotta wieners!! If you have considered adopting a Dachshund, now is the time! If you adopt from either group it will help make room for more Dachshunds in need.
