Carlos
Carlos was rescued from a terrible breeding situation in Iowa. When we found Carlos he was suspended from the ceiling in a wire cage with a wire bottom that cut his feet. He had not so much as a blanket, food or fresh water. He is so happy to be free! He is a bit scared of people when he is first being held, but he overcomes that quickly and turns into Mr. Personality. He is super friendly. He likes to play tug of war with everything, even paper. He loves toys. He finds them positively facinating! Carlos is making up for lost time and having a blast doing it.
Carlos is a male Chihuahua. He was born in May of 2005 and weighs 6 pounds.
Carlos is so happy that he has a Buddy! His Buddy, Linda Cvilikas, from Papillion, Nebraska, sent him this message: "Dear Carlos: You stole my heart during my first visit to your temporary home. I wanted so badly to take you home, but couldn't. I will be your buddy for as long as you remain at the shelter. Although I'd love to adopt you, I pray that you are adopted by a loving family soon." Carlos sends Linda many happy, grateful kisses and thanks her for visiting him and his friends.
Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested.
