Enrica
Enrica was saved from one of the most pathetic breeding situations we have ever witnessed. She hung from the ceiling in a wire cage that cut her feet and utterly terrified her. She is still very afraid of humans. It will take time to earn her trust. To make matters even worse Enrica is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. There was a green swamp on the property that was thick with mosquitos. The property owner said the dogs had no records of vet care, so obviously no heartworm prevention. Please send good thoughts for Enrica and the other heartworm positive dogs to survive their treatment and be able to go on to know happiness in loving homes. It would be so sad for it to end otherwise.
Enrica is a female Chihuahua. She was born in 2002 and weighs 9 pounds.

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested.
