Dogs for Adoption LOOKING FOR LOVE

Shyam Shyam was rescued from a horrible farm in Iowa where dogs were being bred for the purpose of selling the pups to pet stores for $50. We were told that Shyam had been abused and would be vicious to anyone who dared touch her. When we went to pick her up she was not vicious at all, but rather frightened out of her mind to have human hands touch her. She screamed bloody murder like we have never ever heard a dog scream before. It was bone chilling. After a couple of days at the shelter Shyam was actually smiling from ear to ear, and had picked John, the rescuer who personally picked her up and took her away from the farm, as her hero. She decided that not only was she not afraid of him, she decided she loved him very much for bringing her to this nice place with good food, soft blankets, air conditioning and people who truly cared and were nice to her. John has become quite taken with her too and often carries her around as he goes about his business at the shelter. As if Shyam's story were not horrific enough she was dealt another blow when her heartworm test came back positive. She is not enduring the treatments well and we are very worried about her. We hope that her small, worn little body and fragile spirit will be able to pull through. She is taking comfort in her new friends at the shelter, and it is our pleasure to be able to comfort her in her time of need. Shyam is a female Chihuahua. She was born in 2001 and weighs 8 pounds. Shyam is so happy that she has a Buddy! Her Buddies, Tom, Tina, and poodles (Sophie, Reilly, and Gracie), from Loveland, Colorado, sent her this message: "Our poodle girls, Sophie and Gracie, are also puppy mill survivors. They want to tell you to hang in there, your new family will be well worth the wait!" Shyam sends Tom, Tina and their sweet dogs many grateful kisses. Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. We can give you more information on each dog if you click on the adoption link below. If you are interested in adopting a dog, please click on the adoption link below. Buddies are people who help support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the Buddy. Thanks for visiting our dogs.
