HUA was honored for the Jet Set Dogs program which was established three years ago. Jet Set Dogs rescues dogs from all over the country, rehabilitates them and puts their stories on the web page on Internet in search of the perfect family for each dog. This program has placed dogs in 44 states and Canada. HUA is using information technology to make great strides toward remarkable social achievement", said Dr. David Allison, Chairman of the National Museum of American History's Division of Information and Society.

Information describing the Jet Set Dogs program will be permanently housed in the Research Archives of the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution.

Lee Wheeler accepted the award on behalf of HUA. Wheeler said "We are thrilled to have this wonderful program honored in this way. It clearly shows that there are better ways to address the needs of companion animals in this country. Through the use of technology we are able to unite hearts!"
