be my buddy
Born: 02/22/2010
24 lbs

Chuck Beagle was born in a puppy mill in Missouri. Something very, very bad happened to him in there as he was one of the most frightened creatures we have ever seen after he was rescued. He was terrified of people, to the point where his entire body would quake with fear if we even dared to approach. It was heartbreaking to see, and we knew we had a special case on our hands. John, our main caregiver, began to slowly work with Chuck, sweet-talking him and showing him what great fun it is to walk around campus on the leash. Because Chuck is brave and resilient and because John is magical, this darling boy has made a complete turn-around. He is now hopelessly in love with humans. He just can't get enough of us. He is playful and carefree and full of joy. He loves his long walks and greets everyone with a huge smile and whirling tail. We are so proud of our Chuck, and of John too for the incredible work he does with dogs who seem too damaged to recover. Chuck is so deserving of the best home in the world and he will make sure that his family members know they are loved to the ends of the earth.
Buddy Messages (4)
His Buddies, Bob and Lin Meehan, from Vienna, VA, sent him this message: "You look like our rescue beagle Buddy. I'll bet you're like him, always up for a belly rub or a little snack. If you're the typical beagle you are worth having just for the laughs you provide everyday. You'll find your forever home soon so just be a good boy and wait a little bit. Ask someone at HUA for a treat from your fellow beagle Buddy." Chuck talked caretaker, John, out of a treat very easily, and sends the Meehans many thanks for that good idea, and sends lots of happy beagle kisses, too!
His Buddy, Wayne Alter, from Council Bluffs, IA, sent him this message: "Hello Buddy, What a wonderful smile you have Chuck. I am sure somebody as sweet as you will not be in the shelter for long." Chuck hopes you are right, Wayne, and sends lots of happy kisses your way!
His Buddy, Elizabeth Balazs, from Blair, NE, sent him this message: "Hi Chuck! You are such a good boy. We are very proud of you and all of the hard work you have been doing to find your new Forever home.We just know you'll find a family that will pamper and treasure you for the rest of your days. We're thinking of you and sending kisses, hugs and belly rubs every day! Love, Elizabeth, Pitmon, Bud, Tasha & Sam" Chuck sends the Balazs family many happy tail wags and grateful hugs!
His Buddy, Julie Radicevic, from Seattle, WA, sent him this message: "What a sweet face you have, little buddy! I hope you find a forever home real soon!" Chuck sends Julie many grateful hugs and happy kisses!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
