About Diamond

Last Spring we were contacted by a concerned neighbor. A mother dog who was extremely malnourished had given birth to a litter of puppies. The sheriff had been called because the dog was in terrible shape and at times wandered off of the property but as long as the dogs had “shelter” and water there was nothing that could be done. We wanted desperately to help this young mother but the person who owned her would not agree to voluntarily relinquish her. Months went by, and once again the kind neighbor contacted us to let us know that this poor dog was pregnant again. She was still malnourished and had not been given any sort of medical attention. This time, local law enforcement was able to convince the owner to turn the mother dog over to a veterinarian’s office. We contacted the vet and picked up Diamond that day. The day after she arrived, she gave birth to six beautiful, round-bellied babies.

Sadly, this wasn’t Diamond’s first rodeo, but it would be her last. She was a sweet and patient mama, but Diamond is young and playful and she was anxious for some time with her doggy friends after her mothering duties were complete. Her darling babes stayed fat, became silly, and followed Diamond’s lead as far as their love for humans. Diamond is now living a life that perhaps she could never have dreamed up. She has been to a fun event, she has lots of pals in her play group and she is quickly becoming a rising agility star. Our girl is eager to please, quick on her paws and very smart. Best of all, she has all of the toys and freedom a dog could ever need.

Becoming an HUA Buddy changes a life. For a monthly donation, you can befriend a dog or cat in need of some love and support until your fuzzy pal is adopted.
