Brice Featured

be my buddy
Australian Shepherd
Born: 08/22/2011
Medium
32 lbs
Male

Brice and his brother, Bruce, came out of a horribly abusive situation in South Dakota. Brice was very, very afraid of people when he got to HUA and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to completely gain his trust. We worked long and hard with him, telling him and showing him day by day that he was worthy of love and respect. All of that work paid off and Brice is now a totally new dog. He absolutely adores people and greets everyone with a happy, contented smile. He has mastered his leash training and has perfected basic commands such as "sit" and "shake." He likes very much to show off his skills and wants to please us in all ways. He has also convinced himself that he is a lap dog and snuggles up to staff and volunteers every chance he gets. Dogs like Brice remind us daily of why we do what we do. We are so very proud of his achievements and grateful that he decided that we are loveable and trustworthy friends.

UPDATE: Brice has been cat tested. To be honest, he failed miserably. He thinks herding (and irritating) cats is big loads of fun. He had a blast. The cats? Not so much.

His Buddies, Lesa West and her family, from Lawrence, Kansas, sent him this message: "Hi Brice! We put an application in on you and we look at your pictures about ten times a day. We may have also forwarded them to your prospective aunties and uncles. But no matter what, we want to be your buddy. Your friends are doing great work there and we are part of your of fan club. Hugs and kisses! Lesa and family" Brice loved the hugs and kisses and sends the Wests many grateful snuggles and kisses, too!
His Buddy, Jill Woolcock, from Le Mars, IA, sent him this message: "Brice looks just like our Zamboni. I actually thought they could be siblings! Aussies are the BEST dogs ever!!!! Please adopt Brice into your FOREVER home." Brice sends Jill and Zamboni lots of beautiful smiles, enthusiastic hugs and many grateful kisses!
His Buddy, Jean Jaeger, from Omaha, NE, sent him this message: "Brice, You remind me of Belle, my Aussie/Border Collie cross. She was the most beautiful soul, and I loved her so much and miss her every day. You will be that same kind of wonderful gift to your new family. I wish you fun, happiness, and love for the rest of your long life." Brice sends Jean and her furkids many grateful hugs, happy tail wags and loving kisses!
His Buddy, Katelyn Rump from Lincoln, NE, sent him this message: "Your story makes me very sad and happy at the same time, I am sad that you ever had to go through that, but I am so happy that you are in a safe place and so very happy! I know you will find your forever home and they will love you like you deserve to be loved!" Brice sends Katelyn very nice hand shakes, hugs, and grateful kisses!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
