Homeward Bound - Adopted!

Now living happily in York, Nebraska

Annie Oakley is one of the Texas Rangers who left a shelter in Texas only hours before they would have been euthanized. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with heartworms, but she is nearly finished with her treatment and has done very well. Annie is a wise little thing who figures out the system very fast. She takes everything in stride and is so grateful for all she receives. She is very polite but also makes sure that the caregivers realize she has a big appetite, especially for canned chicken. For all Annie has been through, she is a happy survivor, robust and fun-loving, and we stand in admiration of her courage and willingness to love so openly and completely.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, JoAnn Carpenter, from Omaha, NE, sent her this message: "Dear Annie, I've always had a soft spot for chihuahuas! You are just beautiful and look SO sweet! I'm sure you won't be at HUA very long, so I'm happy to be your buddy until your forever family finds you!" Annie sends JoAnn many happy little kisses and very grateful hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
