be my buddy
Born: 04/22/2011
10 lbs

Luverne and his brother, Lester, were rescued from a severe hoarding situation. Because there were so many animals involved, neither boy was properly socialized and they were nearly feral when they arrived at HUA. They were both terrified and wanted nothing to do with getting to know us, let alone being touched or loved. Because we understand this behavior and know it all too well, we were able to win the boys over in a fairly short period of time and now they are two of the silliest little guys on campus. Luverne is a very happy boy with the sweetest of temperaments. He loves the humans now and takes every chance he can get to sneak in hugs and kisses. His tail goes a mile a minute when he knows recess is nearing and that means BIG FUN. He dashes about greeting everyone and carrying on like it's his very own birthday party. Luverne and his brother now have the very best chance at a perfectly wonderful life and we couldn't be happier for them.
Buddy Messages (1)
His Buddy, Stacy Burbach, from Lincoln, NE, sent him this message: "Dear Luverne, you are such a sweet boy and I have so much fun spending time with you at the shelter! You would be a great addition to any family who likes lots of snuggles and tons of kisses! Until then, HUA will take great care of you and Molly and I would love to be your buddies!" Luverne can't wait for Stacy's next visit and sends both Stacy and HUA alum Molly lots of very enthusiastic hugs and happy kisses!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
