Homeward Bound - Adopted!

Now living happily in New York, New York

On January 29, 2014, HUA rescued 45 dogs from a puppy mill in South Dakota. Some of the dogs went to other groups and the majority of them (about 30) came to HUA. HUA has been working with this particular mill on downsizing and we are pleased to announce that this mill is now shut down!

Because of these collaborative efforts, another 45 dogs are now free. Of the group, only 3 of them are males. All others are females. Puppies were also released. A few three-month-old Japanese Chin pups and four six-week-old pups are in the group. What does all this mean? Female dogs are not needed at the mill for breeding because puppies aren't selling. Efforts in educating the public are working and we must continue to let people know about puppy mills and their connection to pet stores, newspaper ads, internet ads, etc.

Bebe is another lovely little Doxie girl. She adores everyone and insists on giving gentle little kisses to each new friend. She loves recess time with her fabulous friends and bounces about with happy abandon. We have discovered that Bebe's hair can be fashioned into a fantastic Mohawk. What's even better is that she is a great sport about it and allows us all the time we need to fuss over her . She loves people so very much that she is willing to stand just about anything, including embarrassing hair-dos. Bebe is sweet, gentle, silly, loving, smart - she is just about perfect in every way.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, Sharon Bogins, from Columbia, MD, sent her this message: "Sweet Bebe, If I could bring you home today I would. I'm sure you will find your forever home soon." Bebe sends Sharon many, MANY happy kisses and lots of very grateful hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
