Homeward Bound - Adopted!

Now living happily in Iowa

On April 15th, 2013, Hearts United for Animals rescued 19 dogs from miserable conditions where they had lived for years in a Lancaster County, Nebraska puppy mill. Most of them were underweight, and all have medical issues due to severe neglect. All of the dogs were so happy to be rescued. They delighted in the comfort given to them by their rescuers. They enjoyed their clean new spaces and wonderful soft food. They lapped up their fresh, clean, abundant drinking water – something they had been lacking.

Rescuers decided that these dogs are definitely rock stars! They came through their ordeal with such happy, positive attitudes, looking forward to their much improved new lives. They survived, they endured, and they will become loved family members.

Sheryl may be a bit younger than her estimated age, but she did have some serious health problems when she arrived. She lost 19 teeth, had a benign tumor removed, was anemic and suffered from a pretty serious urinary tract infection. She looked like a nightmare, the poor darling. But she has proven herself to be a true rock star. Sheryl loves to be in big groups of people and insists on copious amounts of cuddles. Everything is delightful to her and her precious smiles light up our hearts. She loves everything and everyone and every new experience. Her new family will be filled with wonder at the moxy of this tiny survivor.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, Stacy Burbach, from Lincoln, NE, sent her this message: "Sheryl, you are such a sweetheart and there are only good times ahead for you! The awesome HUA family will take care of you until you find your forever home! Molly and I send you much love!" Sheryl sends Stacy and HUA alum Molly oodles of joyful kisses, enthusiastic tail wags and very happy hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
