Baxter Featured

be my buddy
Born: 10/14/2005
11 lbs

Baxter was turned over to HUA after it was dicovered that he was suffering from Diabetes. His family just did not have enough financial reserve to continue his treatments. We had a bit of a rough patch getting this little man regulated, but he is finally doing well and enjoying being part of the busy life here at the shelter. He is a distinguished member of the office staff and the lobby greeters and takes his position seriously. He is a very polite greeter to new people and will happily show them around town. Baxter does not like all other dogs; he is particular about who he lets into his circle. Humans are another ball of wax. He thinks they are ALL super. Laps are his and he takes full advantage. We realize that it will take a special someone to adopt a special needs dog like Baxter, but we know how worthy he is of being a part of a family and could not pass up the chance to brag on him just a bit.
Buddy Messages (1)
His Buddy, Jeffery Armstrong, from Dallas, TX, sent him this message: "Baxter, you are a very handsome gentleman whose eyes tell that you will be a loving and devoted family member in your new home. I hope the perfect family (who knows that diabetes isn't so bad) finds you soon and gives you the love you so deserve for the rest of your life!" Baxter hopes so, too, and sends Jeffery lots of love and tiny, very happy kisses!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
