Homeward Bound - Adopted!

Now living happily in Abilene, Kansas

Wakita was born in a puppy mill in South Dakota. She was bred over and over as all mill dogs are and it damaged her soul. She is the prettiest little girl who we want to swoop into our arms for hugs and kisses, but Wakita does not know about love. We have proceeded gently with her and she is beginnning to learn that there is big fun to be had around here. She has already mastered that fantastic game called Chase Me If You Want Me and we can see her grinning as she zooms away. She is letting us tickle her ears and she will sit nicely with us if we are quiet and wait for her. She is loving having all these great dog friends around to teach her the ropes. Wakita will be just fine - we've seen dogs like her make huge strides thousands of times. She just needs an understanding home with people who will assure her that she is safe, loved, and there forever.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddies, Andy and Allison Frederick, from Lincoln, NE, sent her this message: "What a cutie you are! Andy and I are sorry that you've had such a tough life before coming to HUA, but are happy that you're getting to see what love is. We look forward to playing with you and giving you attention. Hugs and smooches! Allison and Andy" Wakita sends Allison and Andy many tiny kisses and lots of grateful hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
