Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in San Bernardino, California

On April 15th, 2013, Hearts United for Animals rescued 19 dogs from miserable conditions where they had lived for years in a Lancaster County, Nebraska puppy mill. Most of them were underweight, and all have medical issues due to severe neglect. All of the dogs were so happy to be rescued. They delighted in the comfort given to them by their rescuers. They enjoyed their clean new spaces and wonderful soft food. They lapped up their fresh, clean, abundant drinking water – something they had been lacking.

Rescuers decided that these dogs are definitely rock stars! They came through their ordeal with such happy, positive attitudes, looking forward to their much improved new lives. They survived, they endured, and they will become loved family members.

When Joni came into the shelter, she lost 15 teeth, was anemic, had conjunctivitis in her eyes and urinary tract problems. Despite her initial medical issues, she is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She instantly became a favorite with the staff and volunteers and her tiny feet rarely hit the ground. When they do, she crawls around her on belly to show how submissive and darling she is. She adores being spoiled by everyone and is happiest cuddling up for a deep snooze, content to revel in the love she had never even known existed. Joni is a special one, an adorable lovebug who deserves every single bit of happiness we can provide to her.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddies, Kelly and Aaron Sand, from Bellevue, NE, sent her this message: "Hi, sweetpea! We are so thankful that you have been rescued and are doing well in your new environment. We will pray for a furever home for you; but, we know you are well cared for at HUA! Our beagle, McCoy (f/k/a Cromwell) is an HUA alum and we do rescue work with Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland and foster failed with our sweet puggle, Gretchen. She wants you to know that you deserve to be pampered like a princess. Sending lots of love, hugs, and kisses....Aaron, Kelly, McCoy and Gretchen Sand...RUFF!" Joni sends all kinds of sweet little kisses, enthusiastic tail wags and very grateful cuddly hugs to Kelly, Aaron, McCoy and Gretchen!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
