Cocker Spaniel
Born: 04/09/2006
18 lbs

Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

This poor, sweet darling came out of a puppy mill in Nebraska that was breeding Cockers at break neck speeds. The abuse and neglect these precious creatures suffered at the hands of the millers was excruciating. Arista arrived at HUA with two cherry eyes, luxating patellas and some urinary tract issues. Our vet has taken care of her physical ailments, and we are trying to take care of her broken spirit. She has pepped up a bit after being at the shelter for a while and is starting to really enjoy her recess time and the other dogs. As she becomes more comfortable with people around her, we are starting to see her silliness emerge. In the morning, Arista will go outside for her bathroom break, then bark at us until we feed her. One would think this is nothing monumental, but for a mill dog who was terrified of humans not so long ago, it is a sure sign that she is coming around to being a normal dog.
Buddy Messages (3)
Her Buddy, Jeffery Armstrong, from Dallas, TX, has chosen Arista to be his Buddy in honor of his recently passed Cocker, Elle Mae. Arista sends Jeffery many happy kisses and hugs to help him feel better as he remembers beautiful Elle Mae.
Her Buddy, Bob Bertz, from Madison, CT, sent her this message: "Arista, you look like a beautiful young girl with lots of playful spaniel antics up your sleeve to share with a new family! I know you'll find your very own people very soon who will love you forever. Until then, I'm sending you lots of cuddles!" Arista sends Bob many grateful kisses and cuddles in return!
Her Buddies, Jesus and Serita Gamez, from Lawrence, NE, sent her this message: "We would like to be a buddy to Arista, Carrick and Daisy in honor of our 3 babies that we lost. They were with us for 14 years, 13 years and 16 years. They will always be with us and we would love to help others dogs in their honor....truth be told they helped and loved us more that we ever did them! Here is to Reno (aka bean bean), Chewie (aka cho cho morrocho) and Hooch (aka Booda baby) We love you always!" Arista sends the Gamez family many little kisses and grateful smiles!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
