Terrier Mix
Born: 05/23/2006
13 lbs

Astrid came from a puppy mill in Kansas notorious for flaming, infected mouths and horribly deformed feet. The dogs at this mill have spent their lives on rusty, wire crate bottoms. They are given the lowest quality of food imaginable. They are generally wary of humans and require some time to get used to love. Astrid is still feeling a tad frightened of us, but it is very clear that she will come around quickly. She is a spunky little girl that is having a good time exploring. She is nosey and likes to know what's going on around her. We picture her walking nicely and with much purpose on a leash beside her favorite person, taking in all the sights and smells and wonders of her new world. We hope and pray that the day will come soon when she can prance away from us, looking back with a wave and a huge grin on her fuzzy, precious face.
Buddy Messages (2)
Her Buddy, Donna Warnat, from New York, sent her this message: "Dear Astrid, I’m so glad you are safe with HUA; I know they will take good care of you while you wait for a “forever” home." Astrid is glad to be here, too, and sends Donna many tiny kisses and grateful little cuddles!
Her Buddy, Beth Formiller, from Ripon, Wisconsin, sent her this message: "You are so lucky to be rescued by all the wonderful people at HUA. And now they will help find you a really really nice home and family. Yippee!" Astrid sends Beth many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
