Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Butler, Missouri.

Thanks to the perks of modern day networking, Susan no longer sits on the side of the highway, waiting for her people to return. Not long ago, a wonderful person posted on our Facebook page that two dogs had been left on the road, and had been seen running down the middle of the street, dodging speeding cars and 18 wheelers. Volunteers immediately went searching and eventually found Susan and her friend hiding in a ditch. They were skinny and afraid and wary of the volunteers and engaged us in quite a chase. Finally, this lovely girl came to rest in a patch of sunny, yellow flowers - also known as Black-eyed Susans. She allowed us to pick her up and cuddle her, and she molded against us, sighing deeply and gazing into our eyes. She and her friend (whose name is Tilly and has been adopted) were brought to the shelter for some good food and rest. Susan is a precious gift. She is sweet, sensitive and a total lover. She greets visitors with polite enthusiasm and plays nicely with the other dogs, many of whom are smaller and fragile. She is an old soul who has experienced the pain of abandonment, but she doesn't hold it against all humans. Black-eyed Susan needs to be around people as often as possible. Because of her background, she feel insecure when she cannot be with her humans. She would be the perfect dog to take to work every day, as she is the politest of all creatures.
