Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Loup City, Nebraska.

When Chivas arrived at HUA from a run down, filthy, crowded puppy mill in Missouri, we knew right away we had a special guy. He immediately cuddled up to us, rubbing his little teddy bear face into our necks and sighing with pleasure over his very first loving touches. Then the smell hit us. Something was very wrong with this tiny man's mouth. We very gently eased his lips up to peer inside and were absolutely shocked and horrified at the condition of Chivas' teeth and gums. In all the years of rescuing thousands of dogs from puppy mills, we had never seen such a horrendous case. We did not wait another minute to get him to the vet. We were afraid that infection could be raging elsewhere in his tiny body. Chivas lost every single tooth - 37 of them altogether. He is now pain free and smells AWESOME! He is adorable, snuggly, happy, kissy and sweet as they come.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
