Homeward Bound - Adopted!

Now living happily in Florida

Emma lived her entire life outside. All thirteen years of it. At some point in time, the people left the property altogether and did not bring Emma with them. On occasion, a family member would return to toss some kibble into the yard, only to leave again for days at a time. It is hard to believe that this old gal has anything left in her other than rage and disappointment, but true to the Labrador spirit, she has forgiven humans. She is a dear, sweet, gentle, kind, patient lady. She is grateful for every single thing she is given. She has learned to walk so nicely on a leash and waits patiently for her soft, delicious treats. Her poor coat quality due to being left outdoors for over a decade has been improving steadily with rest and good nutrition. Emma was surprised to see other dogs at HUA and has not really figured out whether they are friends. We think she will be OK with them once she understands that no being is out to hurt her, but she will need to be introduced to ensure that she is a fit with another dog. If ever there was a dog that deserves a home, it is Emma. She will just not believe the jackpot she hit.

Her Buddy, Dorothy Meinhold, from Park City, UT, sent her this message: "Hi EMMA - I know you are snug and warm and being cared for lovingly by the HUA angels! I just wanted to send you a virtual HUG and let you know that I and your other Buddies are sending you love and hoping your wonderful forever family will soon come get you! xoxox Dorothy" Emma loved the virtual hug and sends Dorothy lots of hugs in return, along with lots of happy kisses and some gentle cuddles, too!
Her Buddy, Joyce Chambers, from Worcester, PA, sent her this message: "Dear, Sweet Emma, I would love to be your buddy until you find your family in memory of another Emma we searched for but never found for a year. Be a good girl, and I will write again soon! Love, Mommie Joyce, Cadi and Cailin" Emma sends Joyce, Cadi and Cailin lot of very happy hugs and sweet kisses of thanks!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
