Labrador Retriever Mix

Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Gil is a sweet, affable, easy going guy who is eager to please and loves to learn new things. He likes to play and loves the people. Gil was dumped in the country with a collar with no tags embedded in his neck. He stood in the same spot in the middle of a country road for 6 hours waiting for his people to come back for him. Gil's story is common in the country, dogs like him are a dime a dozen to the rural folks and when they get tired of feeding them they leave them out to die or for someone to find, and they obviously don't care which. It is mind boggling that such a wonderful dog like Gil could be treated like that when he is the most loving, optomistic, devoted dog in the world, one who would die in the spot where his owners left him rather than to believe they would not come back. Odds are against big, black, male dogs getting adopted, but for Gil's sake we sure hope he is the exception to the rule. He deserves a GREAT family. Gil is a male Lab mix. He was born 02/08 and weighs 47 pounds.
Buddy Messages (1)
His Buddy, Renelle Kant, from Ralston, Nebraska, sent him this message: "Our hearts and love are with you during this hard time. We hope that you will soon find the loving family that you so truly deserve. Love, Renelle & Kenny Kant, Jack, Kobi, Tiger" Gil sends Renelle, Kenny, Jack, Kobi and Tiger many happy, grateful kisses.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
