Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Overland Park, Kansas.

You're going to see these pictures and dread reading Gizzy's description. Because you're going to think SOMETHING has got to be wrong with this dog, as she is too perfect looking not to have some major personality flaw. Well, we've got you fooled this time, as this dog is The Best. She is easy-going, calm, goofy, loving, silly, and smart. She loves all people and all other dogs. Her best friend is her baby pool and she will sit and sit in the water when the weather is nice. Hm - OK, maybe there is one personality flaw. Giz got mad when the weather turned and we stopped filling her pool. So she sort of, um, tore it to pieces. But we understand as she really does LOVE that pool with the water. And when there's no water, it's really just a useless old thing sitting around taking up space. We forgive her. Gizzy was brought to the shelter by a person who bought her as a puppy without doing the homework, and found Gizzy too much to handle. Bassett Hound puppies tend to be "too much to handle," - this is why it is so vitally important to know what to expect and how to react. Gizzy has chilled out and no longer does wild puppy things. She is SO ready to go home with people who will cherish her wondrous spirit and perhaps allow her to play in the water whenever her heart desires.
Buddy Messages (2)
Her Buddy, Pamela Lee, from West Labanon, New Hampshire, sent her this message: "Gizzy, you have the most magnificent eyes! Don't worry--warm weather will return soon. We all understand that a girl needs her time in the pool. Stay well, little friend. Rest assured that you will find the right person for you!" Gizzy sends Pamela many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.
Her Buddy, Lara Johnson, from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, sent her this message: "Gizzy, you've got a sweet face and a stellar sounding personality. We are buddying you as a thank-you gift for our friends, the Farias Family, who are responsible for introducing us to HUA. You are so lucky to have found your way to such a wonderful place, and we hope you find your forever home very soon!" Gizzy send the Farias and the Johnson families many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
