Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Omaha, Nebraska.

Iona was part of a large puppy mill rescue in Nebraska several months ago. At only 3 years old, her mouth and gums were so badly infected that she had to have 22 teeth removed and undergo extensive antibiotic treatments. Iona was also skinny and scared of people. After getting her healthy, we worked on socializing her and were thrilled to see her goofy personality emerge. Iona loves playing with the other dogs. Her silly grin tells it all. She loves people, too, but will still act coy and play hard-to-get. She likes to sniff us up and down, checking us out thoroughly, and will then allow us to pick her up and love on her. She is a tricky little gal. Iona is a survivor. She will be the perfect little lady in her new home. She would like it known that she likes animal prints and pink if winter jackets are being purchased. Size SMALL, please.

Her Buddy, Jessica Keysar, from Gaithersburg, Maryland, sent her this message: "Iona: You are such a sweet girl and a true survivor. I am so happy you now have grass under your feet and many friends to play with...LOL, your new Buddy, Jessie" Iona sends Jessica many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.
Her Buddy, Maddy Bridges, from West Des Moines, Iowa, sent her this message: "Iona, you are my mom's and I favorite dog at HUA. WE love to see you when we visit. You are such a sweet girl and some family would be very lucky to adopt you. Love, Maddy :)" Iona sends Maddy many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
