Born: 03/19/2000
Small
8 lbs
Female

Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Lincoln, Nebraska.

You'd never be able to tell from her lovely photos, but Loena was near death when she was rescued. She came from a puppy mill that housed some of the worst medical cases we have ever seen. Loena and her friends, most of them seniors, were in deplorable condition and broke our hearts. This lively little girl had an infected mouth, cataracts in both eyes, an enlarged heart and a hernia. Worse even, she had a one inch tear in her abdominal wall - her insides (about the size of an orange) were literally hanging out of her. Loena has a unshakeable spirit though, and she patiently endured each procedure she needed to undergo just to stay alive. She is now as healthy as we could get her. She is incredibly friendly and still has a lot of play left in her. Loena loves her people so much, she crawls and slithers on her tiny belly to get to us. She knows how cute she is and she likes to be a bit of a show-off. We can only pray that there is a special, dedicated family who would be willing to provide Loena with the one and only home she will ever know. If any dog deserves major spoiling, it's Loena.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, Sharon Francis, from Tigard, Oregon, sent her this message: "You sweet little girl. I would love to take you if I could. I have three pound pups of my own. But I'm sure someone will see what a little sweetheart you are.. and snap you righ up.. Bless this little girl.. and all the others like her. Love, Sharon" Loena sends Sharon and her sweet pups many happy, grateful hugs and kisses.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
