Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Arlington, VA.

Lucky has been anything but lucky in his life. He lived with a family who was not able to provide much at all for him. They were homeless and living in a camper. Restoring him to health has been a challenge. He was underweight from eating nothing but small amounts of cat food for a year. He was also covered in ticks and his scrotum was burned either from urine or ice. He had a bad infection in his ears that was resistant to 17 different types of antibiotics and has a mild heart condition. After weeks of nutritious food and antibiotics, once the ear infection finally cleared, he had his teeth cleaned. That seemed to trigger a bout of pneumonia, likely from all of the crud that had been on his teeth, and Lucky spent a week in intensive care. But nothing ever stops this darling sprite. He arrived back at the shelter his same old happy self, dancing, jumping up and down to have what he wants. He loves to run the main entrance hall, hop up on people’s laps, be in on everything, get rocked on his back in true baby fashion. It may have been mentioned once or twice that Lucky would not win any awards for The Best Looking Dog on Campus, but he thinks he’s beautiful, and so do we. As a matter of fact, we do think he could win awards for The Most Precious Dog on Campus.
Buddy Messages (2)
His Buddy, Jonna Huseman, from Silver Spring, MD, sent him this message: "Hi Lucky! You look like an angel to me! I'm so excited to be your buddy. I wish you nothing but love, happiness, and lots of belly rubs!" Lucky is thrilled with the belly rubs and sends Jonna lots of little dances, along with many very grateful kisses and cuddles!
His Buddy, Dorothy Nelson, from Omaha, NE, sent him this message: "Dear Lucky, I think you are a glorious boy! And you are very lucky to have finally come to HUA, where you will get lots of attention and love, and very soon find a wonderful home! I am happy to be your buddy until your forever family finds you! Love, Dorothy" Lucky sends Dorothy many very happy kisses, large cuddles and very grateful hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
