Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Late one night last November we received a call from the emergency clinic in Omaha about an 18 week old Westie/Maltese mix that had been hit by a car. Her owner stated that he wished to turn her over to a rescue group, that he had many previous animals injured and always turned them over to rescue. She was filthy, covered in fleas and in severe pain. We agreed to help. An HUA director went to check on her and decided to name her Sprite because she is so small, bright-eyed and elf-like with her big beautiful ears. Sprite underwent surgery for a shattered pelvis and as a result was ordered to a month of crate rest. This did not go over well with the little angel, because within a few days out of surgery she was raring to go. But, we had to follow the doctor's orders and Sprite stayed put until she was fully healed. She is now free to dance and play and wiggle and bounce all she wants. She is chock-full of enthusiasm and every day is a holiday. She is all puppy all the time - loves people and the other dogs and toys and blankets and everything! We are so thrilled that our baby was able to get the help she so desperately needed and delighted to know that soon she will be home where she belongs, looking forward to a lifetime of love and laughter.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, Camille Brady from Lincoln, NE, sent her this message: "Sprite you look like such a sweet, fun girl! You remind me so much of my Sassy (Westie/Schnauzer mix) with your white fur, bright eyes and long ears. I live in Lincoln but hope to start volunteering at HUA soon with my family. You and all your friends deserve so much love and affection and I want to give you that and anything else I can. I'm so happy you made it through your surgery and are up and playing like you should be. Again, such a cutie!" Sprite sends Camille many happy grateful hugs and kisses!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
