Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living happily in Lincoln, Nebraska.

This little beauty was brought to the shelter after her elderly owner passed away. Relatives had brought her to their home, but the other dog there picked on Sugar terribly. Clearly, she was not a favorite at that house since she arrived loaded with fleas, hairless in many spots and very skinny. However, Sugar lives up to her name by being the sweetest little animal. She loves all people and prances and dances around our feet for attention. She is brilliant and knows how to play all the angles. When we are in the sunporch having an afternoon meal, Sugar complains from the office, where she lives. Once she is brought in to share lunch, she is precious and ladylike. When we head back to work we know Sugar must come with us or we'll hear it all over again. She needs to be around people and does not stand for not being included. Sugar has made one specific request of her new family - she would like a box to sleep in. Yes, a box. Blankets inside the box would be appreciated, but please do not expect her to sleep in a plain old dog bed. She does not find those things comfy at all, and the empty boxes in the office just do the trick. We'll even throw a few in, free of charge, when she is adopted.
Buddy Messages (2)
Her Buddy, Pam Sawyer from Hickman, NE, sent her this message: "Hi Sugar! I hope you find a home very soon. I just want people to know, you are the sweetest dog! And I know you love to give kisses and your tummy rubbed. I just wish your past owners would have contacted me before they gave you up. I always looked forward to seeing you everyday when I came home from work. I now miss you! But I already have 4 dogs, 2 from HUA. Otherwise I would take you in a second. Best wishes to you sweetie. You will find a home soon. In the meantime, you're in a wonderful place." Sugar sends Pam many grateful hugs and kisses!
Her Buddy, Stacie Gengler from Omaha, sent her this message: "Sugar, you are a gorgeous girl who deserves to have all the attention in your new home! I bet they'll give you lots of boxes lined with soft blankets so you can be a woman of leisure every day! I wish you the best and a speedy adoption." Sugar sends Stacie LOTS of happy kisses and hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
