Homeward bound-adopted!

Now living hapily in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Tonya Setter was found abandoned and alone in a small town in rural Nebraska. She was just about skin and bones when she arrived at HUA, and she was downtrodden and depressed. We felt such sorrow for this beautiful creature as it was clear that her spirit was just about broken due to all she had been through. She looked up at us with such pleading eyes, begging for help but almost afraid to ask for it. While we prepared a huge bowl of warmed up, scrumptious food for her, Tonya sat nicely but nervously, wondering what this place was all about. We won her over with that big meal, however, and soon Tonya was smiling wide as she discovered how fantastic scratches behind the fluffly ears can be. She also discovered TUMMY RUBS and flopping on her back in anticipation has become a favorite past-time. Tonya loves going for long walks and stays politely by her person's side. She sits nicely for treats and is grateful for every last one of them. She is a sweet, gentle soul with an enormous capacity for forgiveness and an eagerness to love and be loved.
Buddy Messages (1)
Her Buddy, Sharon Schmitt, from Fairfax, VA, sent her this message: "Tonya, you look like a very sensitive and beautiful girl who will be a blessing to your new family. Have fun with your friends at HUA, and I'm sure you'll be going home soon! My furkids and I send you lots of love!" Tonya sends Sharon and her pack many happy, dainty kisses and grateful hugs!

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
