This beautiful girl was in a home in Indiana with her sister/friend Mandy. The place was so filthy that the human was made to leave due to unfit living conditions. Lulu and Mandy were taken to Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Lulu was so fearful that she was untouchable and unreachable, and the people at IACS were at their wits' end as to how to help. Mandy was also very scared--and a fear biter--but she was still in better emotional shape than Lulu. When we saw the pictures of this terribly dejected dog with a sadness in her eyes that was beyond bearing, we thought we could help, and arrangements were made to bring the girls to the HUA shelter. Thanks to the fierce dedication and unending patience of volunteers, Lulu is now ready to find a home of her own. She has made tremendous strides with her confidence and willingness to forgive humans. She now comes up to us for gentle pats and treats. Out in the yard she runs and plays and follows Mandy and their roommate, Tristan, but she also is brave enough to venture out on her own. Lulu is loving the freedom of roaming the big yards and checking out all the great smells. She is still a tiny bit head shy so we take it slow with her but we are thrilled with her progress. Lulu will love a home with another dog as she takes comfort in the presence of a furry friend.
