Dachshund | Born: Nov 09, 1997 | Weight: 12 lbs. | Gender: Male

Cindy, Jan, Marsha, Greg, and Peter were rescued from a puppy mill in the hills of Missouri. They were kept in a run down shack. The person couldn't afford to heat the space anymore and dog sales were declining, so thankfully she gave up and turned the dogs over to rescue so they could find loving homes. Many puppy mills are being driven out of business by decreased puppy sales due to increasing public awareness. Peter was in extreme pain when he came to us. He had an eruption of infection from his horrible teeth that spread to his eye. He is so happy now that his infection is cured and he is feeling better. He is a dog who has known bad times, in misery for years with no vet care. He is turning into the life of the party now though, and loves to get out and have a good time. He is a very sweet boy. Peter is a male red dapple dachshund. He was born 11/09/1997 and weighs 12 pounds.

Thanks for Visiting Our Animals!

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
