Chihuahua | Born: Jun 01, 2005 | Weight: 15 lbs. | Gender: Male
Renaldo was rescued from a terrible farm in Iowa where they were raising pups to sell to the local pet store for $50. All of the dogs were so covered in fleas that they were black from head to tail. Renaldo is a happy guy, but still a little unsure if the humans treating him nicely is for real. Once he gets completely used to his surroundings we think he will be tons of fun. He is a totally adorable little fellow! UPDATE: Renaldo is a playful, happy little fellow. It still takes him awhile to warm up to new people, and likely he will always be that way. He's been through so much that he has a good reason to make people prove themselves. Lately Renaldo is expanding his horizons by venturing out with volunteers on outings to different places, and making new friends by rooming with a yorkie and an Italian Greyhound. He has done very well and likes his new friends. He is an adorable, gorgeous, playful fellow with an affable personality. Renaldo is a male Chihuahua. He was born in June of 2005 and weighs 14.8 pounds.
His Buddy, Shannon Smith, from Overland Park, Kansas, sent this message to him and to Chalina: "Your eyes captured my heart. I love you both and want you to know there is hope and a better life waiting for you. Someone special was made just for you. Dream Big!!!!! Hugs, licks & kisses, From Shannon, Silas, Beamer, Mercy and Annie - Ask the animals and they will teach you. Job 12:7" Renaldo sends Shannon many happy, grateful kisses.

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals does long distance adoptions if there are safe flights and we have volunteers in the area to do a home visit. We require an application, references and a home visit to adopt one of our dogs. Our dogs are all spayed or neutered and are current on health care. We can cat test a dog if requested. If you are interested in adopting a dog, we can give you more information on each dog if you click the Adoption Info & Application link above. Buddies are people who support the dog and send them love while they are waiting for their new home. The dog does not live with the buddy.
